The Benefits of Working with Copper and Silver Clay
Since discovering metal clay in 2025, what started as curiosity has grown into a bit of an obsession. Working with both copper and silver clay has become one of my favourite creative outlets, bringing not only beautiful finished pieces but also a real sense of enjoyment and wellbeing.
One of the things I love most about metal clay is the tactile experience. There is something incredibly satisfying about shaping, carving, and refining the clay with your hands. The process encourages you to slow down, focus on the present moment, and enjoy each stage of creating something unique.
Creative activities such as jewellery making are also known to help reduce stress and promote relaxation. Spending time immersed in a project can provide a welcome break from everyday worries and create a calming, almost meditative experience. For me, working with metal clay brings back that wonderful sense of play and discovery that many of us enjoyed as children.
There are cognitive benefits too. Designing and creating jewellery exercises problem-solving skills, concentration, patience, and attention to detail. Learning new techniques and experimenting with different ideas keeps the mind engaged and encourages continued growth and creativity.
Perhaps the greatest reward of all is the sense of accomplishment that comes from transforming a simple piece of clay into something lasting and beautiful. Every finished piece tells a story and reminds me why I fell in love with this craft in the first place.
Since 2025, metal clay has become far more than just a hobby for me—it has become a passion. Whether I'm working with copper or silver clay, each new project offers another opportunity to learn, create, and experience the simple joy of making something by hand.
✨ Creativity has always been where I feel most at home, and metal clay has given me another wonderful way to explore that joy.
